BREVARD, N.C. -- The Covenant men's tennis team remained undefeated in USA South play after picking up a 9-0 win at Brevard on Friday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex.
Covenant (8-4, 4-0 USA South) remains atop the USA South West Division and the Scots have won six of the last seven matches.
The Scots picked up three default victories in the contest as Brevard (1-5, 1-3 USA South) had limited players available.
With the cushion of three points, Covenant had little trouble throughout the match.
The Scots took a 3-0 lead after doubles as Solomon Crouch and Austin Dreslinski rolled along with an 8-5 win at the top flight over the host Tornados' Ethan McGee and Devin Horton. At No. 2, Ethan Gibson and Gill Dunn combined for an 8-0 win over Andrew Ingram and JaMarcus Walker.
The Scots shuffled the lineup in singles and completed the sweep.
Cameron Cortman played at the top flight for the second time this season and notched a 6-2, 6-0 win over McGee. Chris Morton clinched the match for the Scots with his 6-1, 6-0 victory over Horton at the No. 2 spot.
Tyler Kelly and Jeb Barnette rounded out the winners for the Scots in singles play. Kelly was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Walker at the No. 3 spot, while Barnette took down Alex Glaze by a 6-1, 6-2 score at No. 4.
UP NEXT
Covenant will travel to Piedmont on Wednesday for a non-conference match with the Lions. Match time in Demorest, Ga., is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
