MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Covenant women's tennis team was defeated 6-3 at Huntingdon on Saturday afternoon.
The loss puts the Scots at 8-4 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
The host Hawks swept Covenant in the doubles portion of the match. The Scots' No. 1 doubles team of Gillian Bosko and Madelyn Savage fell short to Madeline Creel and Marisa LaJone, 8-2.
Nicole Restrepo and Mariah Westra were defeated 8-1 at the No. 2 slot by Lucy Burch and Kennedy Harp. And Laney Beckwith and Dani Rappuhn lost 8-4 to Alex Burnham and Allison Stegall at No. 3.
The Scots earned three singles victories by Savage, Bosko, and Kacey Melton.
Savage defeated Creel 6-2, 7-6 at the No. 1 singles spot. She now sits at 4-1 in USA South competition.
Bosko battled for the three-set victory over Burch at No. 2, 2-6, 6-0, 6-3. Melton improved to 8-3 overall with her 6-2, 6-4 win over Harp at the No. 4 slot.
Restrepo and Beckwith had close three-set losses at the No. 3 and No. 5 spots, while Anna Logan was defeated by Burnham at No. 6, 6-1, 6-0
Huntingdon improves to 11-4 overall and 6-1 in the USA South.
