Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Tops LaGrange, 4-0

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- The Covenant women's soccer team completed the 4-0 shutout of LaGrange Saturday afternoon atop Lookout Mountain. Due to field conditions so far this season, today marked the first regular season match played at Scotland Yard so far.

The Scots' defense was unstoppable, as they only allowed the visiting Panthers one shot the entire contest. It was taken by Taylor Hamm in the seventh minute and was saved by Covenant goalie, Lucy Sandhoff

Covenant's first goal was scored by Paige Simons Pettit in the 21st minute, assisted by Kyra Duble. The goal is the first of the season so far for the senior. The Scots finished the first half having taken seven total shots.

Beginning the second period with a 1-0 lead, it didn't take long for Covenant to strike again.

A second goal for Simons Pettit in the 56th minute would extend the lead to 2-0. The goal was again assisted by Duble, along with Kailey Burrell

After a LaGrange own goal in the 69th minute made it 3-0, Tori Deen would score her first goal of the season in the 89th minute assisted by Zadie Bargeron, completing the 4-0 shutout.

Covenant combined for 23 total shots for the match. Simons Pettit scored two goals off of her three shots, while Deen was a perfect 1-for-1. Duble took six shots and had two assists, and Burrell took four shots

Sandhoff recorded one save on the Panthers' single shot and played until the 76th minute. Mary T. Pickers came into the box for the Scots for the remainder of the contest.

LaGrange goalie, Leila Moss, played the entire 90 minutes and earned six saves on Covenant's 10 shots on goal.

Covenant improves to 1-3-0 in conference play (2-3-0 overall), while LaGrange falls to 1-2-0.
