Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Rasku's Hat Trick Leads Women's Soccer to Rout of Agnes Scott

DECATUR, Ga. -- Megan Rasku notched her first career hat trick while Kailey Burrell and Lillie Cate each scored twice to lead the Covenant women's soccer team to a 9-0 rout of Agnes Scott on Saturday in the season finale.

Covenant ends the year with a 5-3-1 overall record and 4-3-1 in conference play.

The Scots pelted Agnes Scott (0-7, 0-7 USA South) with shots all afternoon. Covenant took 48 attempts in the contest, the most in a match for the Scots since 2010, with 25 of those on target.

Although Covenant was quiet on the scoring front for the first 21 minutes of the contest, the Scots scored all nine goals in a span of 60 minutes of game time.

Kyra Duble gave Covenant a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute with her third goal of the year, assisted by Burrell, and 22nd of her four-year career.

Rasku scored the first of her three goals in the 36th minute as she collected a cross from Abby White and finished from short range to make it 2-0. Rasku then scored again in the 47th minute, aided by Katie LaPenna, and again in the 53rd minute from Burrell to complete the hat trick.

Rasku ends her senior season with a career-high five goals.

Cate scored her first two career goals in the victory. The sophomore made it 3-0 in the 40th minute with an unassisted goal and scored again in the 73rd minute, from Hannah Rodehaver, to make it 8-0.

Burrell had two assists in the match and got into the scoring act in the 50th minute with her third goal of the season that gave the Scots a 5-0 lead. Burrell collected her fourth goal of the year in the 53rd minute as Covenant stretched the lead to 7-0.

Covenant's senior backs also had looks at the net in the second half. Kendyll Freeman scored her first collegiate goal as she finished off a pass from Rodehaver in the 82nd minute to make it 9-0. Sophia Andre had five shots and LaPenna took four shots to go along with her assist.

Lucy Sandhoff and Mary T Pickers split time at the net for the combined shutout.

Agnes Scott keeper Abby Ackerson made 16 saves.

The match was more than likely the final one of the abbreviated spring season for Covenant as the Scots did not qualify for the USA South West Division Tournament.
