LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant women's tennis team extended a season-best winning streak to four matches with a 7-2 win over Belhaven on Saturday at the Covenant Tennis Complex.
Covenant (7-2) has winning streaks of three and now four this season. Belhaven was opening its season on Saturday.
Like the previous matches in the current win streak, Covenant got off to a strong start by winning the doubles portion of the match. Madelyn Savage and Gillian Bosko moved to 6-2 on the year at the top doubles flight with their 8-2 win over Macey Lea and Emilie Ferguson.
Laney Beckwith and Dani Rappuhn broke a 1-1 tie in the match with an 8-2 win Esther Choi and Kerany Un at No. 3.
In singles, Savage and Kacey Melton held down the top two spots to make it a 4-1 lead. Savage won 6-2, 7-5 over Julia Keffer at the No. 1 spot, while Melton was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Lea at No. 2.
Alexis Baker clinched the match for the Scots with her 6-0, 6-2 win over Choi at the No. 2 flight. Anna Logan notched a 6-1, 6-3 win over Ferguson at No. 4 and Beckwith closed the match with her 6-3, 6-3 victory over Un at No. 6.
