CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- The Covenant women's tennis team dropped just five points in a 9-0 sweep of USA South foe Agnes Scott on Saturday inside the Strang-Voges Tennis Center on the campus of McCallie School.
The match was moved from the Covenant Tennis Complex due to weather conditions.
Covenant (5-2, 2-0 USA South) picked up its second straight USA South victory and the Scots have only lost one individual match within those two contests.
The Scots opened the match with a pair of doubles wins to go along with a default victory at the No. 3 flight as Agnes Scott (0-2, 0-2 USA South) had just five available players. Madelyn Savage teamed with Mariah Westra at the top spot to take an 8-1 win over Agnes Scott's Trestin Artkaxa and Fabiola Garcia.
At No. 2, it was Laney Beckwith and Dani Rappuhn earning an 8-0 victory over Katiuska Toral Castillo and Jacy Pippin.
In singles play, Gillian Bosko held down the top flight as she defeated Artkaxa 6-3, 6-1.
Each of the final four spots all claimed straight-set victories. Savage won at No. 2 over Pippin and Kacey Melton was a winner over Rebecca Flores-Hernandez at No. 3 to clinch the match.
Anna Logan (No. 4) and Alexis Baker (No. 5) also collected victories to close out the match. The win was Baker's first career singles victory.
