CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- The Covenant men's basketball team could not keep pace with hot-shooting Chattanooga in a 100-39 loss on Tuesday inside McKenzie Arena.
It was an exhibition for Covenant (4-1), while Chattanooga (5-0) took the regular season victory and remained unbeaten on the year.
Myles Jones led the Scots with 14 points and two rebounds. Brady Palmer, Chris Barnette, Charlie Hester, and DeAngelo Hines all had five points apiece.
Chattanooga, ranked No. 21 in the Collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Top 25, was led by Grant Ledford's 18 points. The host Mocs shot 58.6 percent (41-of-70) from the field with 12 3-pointers.
The Southern Conference preseason favorite Mocs jumped on the Scots from the start. Chattanooga opened up a 13-0 lead in the early minutes of the game and never trailed.
Covenant cut the deficit to 16-7 at the under 16 media timeout as Jones scored the first seven points for the Scots.
Barnette added seven rebounds and two assists for the Scots. Covenant shot just 24.2 percent (15-of-62) from the field.
Malachi Smith, Silvio DeSousa, and Josh Ayeni had 14 points apiece for the Mocs. Ayeni added 10 rebounds to tally a double-double.
