LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Facing a ranked foe for a second time this season, the Covenant women's soccer team fell to visiting No. 25 Emory, 6-0, on Tuesday night at Scotland Yard in non-conference action.
Covenant falls to 1-4-1 overall on the year. Emory, ranked No. 25 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 and No. 20 in the D3soccer.com poll, goes to 5-1 for the season. Covenant opened the season against top-10 ranked Centre.
Emory held the advantage for most of the night as the Eagles scored a pair of goals in the first half and pulled away in the final stanza. Lucy Sandhoff made nine saves for the Lady Scots, while Savannah Cummings made two.
Lindsey Breskow opened the scoring with a goal in the fourth minute, assisted by Samantha Hilsee, to give Emory a 1-0 lead. Covenant held the strong attack from the Eagles at bay for a majority of the first half, but Emory would strike again in the 38th minute when Natalie Klar collected a clearance and scored from outside the box to make it 2-0.
In the second half, Sydney Rosenkrantz scored two goals, while Paige Santee and Kylie Hall added scores as Emory extended its lead.
Kailey Burrell, Elsa Woody, and Megan Rasku all took a shot each for Covenant. Burrell had a look in the first half, but Emory keeper Haley Pratt made the save. Woody's attempt in the second half was also secured by Pratt.
Pratt and Emma Platt combined for the shutout at the net for Emory.

Covenant opens USA South play on Saturday against Brevard. The Homecoming match is set for a 4 p.m. start time at Scotland Yard, or 30 minutes after the Covenant men's soccer match (2 p.m.) ends.
