LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant women's tennis team fell to Piedmont College 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference match on top of Lookout Mountain.
Piedmont (2-0) opened up the match with a Caroline Connelly and Maggie Moody victory over Esther Eddy and Margo Koby 8-4 at one doubles. At the three slot Laney Beckwith and Justine Blick fell to Lily McNeel and Megan Waldheim 8-3 to complete the doubles sweep.
The Lions were able to clinch the match with the victory at one singles. Connelly defeated Eddy 6-2, 6-2 to take a 5-0 match advantage. Masha Lanska was the only Scot to force a nine-game set in singles play. Lanska dropped set one 6-3 to Kara Landsiedel before falling 6-0 in set number two.
Covenant falls to 0-5 in the short season.
SCHEDULE CHANGE
The previously postponed home match with LaGrange has now been rescheduled to Friday, March 29. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
UP NEXT
The Scots will travel up north to take on Maryville College on Friday. Play is set to begin at 2:30 p.m.
