Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Hoops Hammers Wesleyan, 92-31

MACON, Ga. -- Raquel Rosa scored a career-high 20 points and the Covenant women's basketball team dominated in all facets of the game to take a 92-31 victory over Wesleyan in USA South play on Friday afternoon inside Titans Arena.

The 61-point win for Covenant (4-9, 2-3 USA South) is the sixth largest margin of victory in program history, and the biggest since the Scots defeated Oakwood by 77 (97-20) on Nov. 4, 2006. Covenant also collected 68 rebounds as a team, tied for the third-most in a single game in the program's history.

The Scots jumped out to a 26-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. Kaley Hallmark scored all seven of her points in the first period and the Scots forced the host Wolves into 10 turnovers in the opening 10 minutes.

Covenant extended the lead in the second period, despite shooting just 30.3 percent in the stanza. However, the Scots controlled the glass as they tallied 17 offensive rebounds in the quarter and scored 10 second-chance points to grab a 50-18 lead at halftime.

The 50 first half points were the most scored in the opening periods of a game since the Scots put 52 on Sewanee during the 2010-11 season.

As dominating as the first two periods were, Covenant had its most efficient quarter in the third. The Scots outscored Wesleyan 28-4 and shot 50 percent (13-of-26) from the field. Rosa had six points in the quarter.

Covenant would take its largest lead of the day at 61 in the final two minutes of the fourth period.

In addition to her 20 points, Rosa had a career-high tying nine rebounds and was 8-of-13 from the field. Abi Chatham scored 12 points, on four 3-pointers, while Joanna Smith and Bekah Walter had 10 points apiece. Taylor Robinson contributed a career-high nine rebounds and a game-high five assists. Hannah Monday and Riley Wagaman had eight points each off the bench as 12 different players scored for the Scots.

Covenant shot 40 percent (38-of-95) for the game with 27 assists and held a 68-32 rebounding edge. The Scots tallied 37 offensive rebounds in the contest and had a 29-4 advantage in second-chance points. Covenant also turned 28 Wesleyan turnovers into 39 points.

Wesleyan (0-11, 0-4 USA South) received 16 points, five rebounds, and four assists from Xiana Jackson. Jaden Ruffin added 10 points for the Wolves.
