LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Nichole Rittgers recorded a career-high 21 points as the Covenant women's basketball team defeated Wesleyan, 91-14, on Saturday afternoon for their second straight win inside the Barnes PE Center.

Covenant (7-13, 5-7 USA South) won the tip and started the game on a 23-point run before Wesleyan (0-20, 0-11 USA South) scored its first bucket with 2:31 remaining in the first period.

Covenant saw its largest lead of the night come on a Rittgers 3-pointer off a Hannah Monday pass to extend the lead to 81 with 3:16 to go in the final frame to cap off a 15-0 run. The Wolves were able to end the game on a 6-2 run.

The Scots were led by Rittgers who poured in seven 3-pointers for her 21 points to go along with six rebounds. Joanna Smith was the next leading scorer with nine and the hosts saw four players with eight in Kaley Hallmark, Riley Wagaman, MacKenzie Blair, and Morgan Douglass. In a game with 62 bench points for the hosts, Covenant was able to see 13 different scorers in the contest.

Wagaman was also able to record 11 rebounds, seven on the offensive end of the floor.  Raquel Rosa pulled down nine while Monday and Margo Koby recorded seven boards each.

Grace Potter had a game-high five assists as the Scots had 23 on 37 made buckets. The hosts were able to record 17 steals in the game and forced 25 turnovers.

The Scots shot 44.6 percent (37-of-83) from the floor while going 11-for-36 (30.6 percent) from long range. Covenant finished 6-of-8 from the free throw line.

The 77-point win tied for the second largest margin of victory in program history, which had been done twice before. The 14 points allowed also set a program record for fewest points by an opponent.

The Wolves were led by Marilynn Nesmith and Megan Flurry who recorded four points each. Kiara Binns pulled in nine rebounds in the effort.
