Duble Secures 250th Career Win as Lady Scots Blank Oglethorpe

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- It was a special Homecoming match for Covenant women’s soccer head coach Mark Duble as he secured his 250th career win as the Lady Scots took a 4-0 victory over Oglethorpe on Saturday evening at Scotland Yard.

Duble notched the milestone victory and was presented a framed jersey with the number 250 on it after the match surrounded by the team and program alumni.

During the match, Covenant dominated much of the contest. The Lady Scots completed their fourth shutout of the year and held a 21-9 shot advantage on the visiting Stormy Petrels.

Molly Kate McClearn kicked the scoring off for the Lady Scots in the 18th minute, scoring her first collegiate goal from short distance after a corner kick from Addy Cronan and a quick touch from Callie Bader.

Covenant added another score late in the half when Lizzy Hightower booted one from beyond the 18-yard box into the net with 27 seconds left in the period. The goal was Hightower's second of the year and the second match in a row that she has scored in the final minute of a first half.

In the second half it was more of the same. Cronan scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 55th minute of the contest, which came from inside the box assisted by McClearn. Lizzie Bird capped the scoring in the 64th minute when she cleaned up a cross from Abby Gienapp that slipped through the hands of Oglethorpe keeper Lindsey Bolas.

Covenant (4-1) also continued their stellar defensive play to begin the season, recording their fourth shutout in five games. Keeper Rachel Lemay posted three saves on nine total Stormy Petrels shots in the contest.

Oglethorpe (2-3) keeper Lindsey Bolas had five saves. Kayla Trice and Celina Kassam each took three shots for the Stormy Petrels.
