Balanced Attack Leads Volleyball Past LaGrange

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Four different players recorded at least six kills and the Covenant volleyball team hit .265 as a group and used that attack to defeat LaGrange 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-12) in USA South action on Wednesday night inside Barnes PE Center.

The win is Covenant's sixth straight within the USA South and moves the Lady Scots to 12-10 overall and 9-2 in league play. Covenant holds the lead in the USA South's West Division. LaGrange drops to 15-10 on the year with a 5-6 record in the conference.

Jessica Seehorn led the Lady Scots with 10 kills to go along with a .368 hitting percentage, four digs and two assisted blocks. Hannah Harris added eight kills, while Ginny Moore had Morgan Opgenorth had seven and six kills, respectively. Moore also tallied 11 digs and Opgenorth had three total blocks on the night. Schuyler Moore totaled 25 assists, 13 digs and four kills in the win. Allie Jakes contributed five kills and two combined blocks.

Covenant jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the opening set after a Seehorn service ace, but LaGrange would rally and take a 17-15 lead later in the set. With the score tied at 19, Covenant scored six of the final seven points as Harris had two kills in the stretch, including the game-clincher.

The Lady Scots had less difficulty over the final two sets. Covenant gained a 15-6 lead in the second set and cruised from there to a 25-12 win, while accumulating 12 kills and a .296 hitting percentage in the frame. In the third, Covenant had 13 kills and pulled away with a 9-0 run midway through the set to complete the sweep.
