MILLINGTON, Tenn. -- Senior Scott McKnight posted a 73 to lead the Covenant men's golf team in the first round of the Rhodes Mirimichi Spring Classic at Mirimichi Golf Course in Millington on Monday.
Covenant sits in 14th after shooting a 319 as a team, but is just three shots back of 47th-ranked Centenary after day one. 14th-ranked, and host, Rhodes leads the field with a 1-under 287. The field includes 14 teams, six of which are ranked inside the Top 50 in the latest GolfStat rankings.
McKnight is in 13th individually and four shots off leader Saer Brown of Sewanee. McKnight carded three birdies and an eagle during his round. The eagle came on the par-5 2nd hole, McKnight's 11th hole of the day.
Alan Craig shot an 81, while Jeron Pasma and Nick Blauw followed closely with an 82 and 83, respectively. Ian Johnson rounded out the Covenant golfers with a 93.
