ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Covenant women's tennis team saw its six-match win streak come to an end on Tuesday evening as the Lady Scots fell 7-2 at Oglethorpe in non-conference action.
The loss drops Covenant to 7-2 overall, while Oglethorpe improves to 5-7 on the season.
Annie DeLuca was the bright spot for Covenant on the day as she was involved in both points. DeLuca teamed with Lindsay Geving at No. 2 doubles and the duo posted a 9-7 win over Marcail McGranahan and MaryAnne Hafen. In singles play, DeLuca had little trouble dispatching McGranahan 6-0, 6-2. DeLuca is now 7-1 in singles matches this season, which leads the team.
In other matches, Gracie Smith and Jennie Spielman suffered a narrow 9-7 defeat at No. 3 doubles and Spielman was defeated in three sets 6-0, 5-7, 11-9 at No. 6 singles.
Covenant will look to start a new win streak this weekend with a pair of USA South matches. The Lady Scots host Methodist on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and North Carolina Wesleyan on Saturday at 11 a.m.
