ATLANTA, Ga. -- Freshman Joanna Smith recorded a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds, but the Covenant women's basketball team fell 73-60 at Oglethorpe on Saturday afternoon at Dorough Field House.

The loss is the second straight for the Scots and drops them to 1-2 overall. Oglethorpe goes to 2-2 on the year.

Smith also added three assists on the day for Covenant as she recorded her first collegiate double-double. Kaley Hallmark poured in a team-best 11 points, while Aleigha Williams tallied 10 points. The Scots connected on just 28.8 percent (17-of-59) from the field and 20 percent from behind the 3-point line.

Oglethorpe was led by Lauren Ransom's 18 points and 13 rebounds. The host Stormy Pertrels also picked up 17 points from Emily Buck and 11 from Bailey Charles.

Covenant trailed 14-7 midway through the first quarter, but climbed back into the contest with a 7-2 scoring run capped by a a Smith free throw. Oglethorpe extended the lead to 19-14 at the end of the period.

The Scots again fell behind by seven in the second quarter before making another run. Down 27-20, Covenant eventually tied the game at 31 on a 3-pointer from Clara Dirkse. Oglethorpe scored the final basket of the half to go ahead 33-31.

Covenant took its first lead of the game at 34-33 on a Williams 3-pointer early in the third and also held a 41-38 lead after a Smith jumper. But a 12-1 scoring run from the Stormy Petrels gave the hosts a 50-42 lead and they would build on that through the end of the quarter through the fourth.

Oglethorpe made 34.2 percent (25-of-73) from the floor and was held to 27.8 percent from the 3-point line.
