CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Jenna Vreeland scored in the third minute of play and the Covenant women's soccer team played a tough Maryville team to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night at Chattanooga Christian School.
Covenant goes to 10-4-1 overall and 8-3-1 inside the USA South. Maryville is now 12-3-2 and 9-1-2.
Before the match, Covenant honored its six seniors: Vreeland, Ruth Terry, Anne Charlotte Strawbridge, Bekah Kanoff, Rachel Bernard and Rachel Buys for their contributions to the program over the last four years.
Vreeland tallied her third career goal, and first of the season, less than three minutes into the match. The senior took a cross from Anna Porch and got her shot past Maryville keeper Mandy Marshall to put the Lady Scots ahead 1-0.
Maryville struck back in the 10th minute on Natasha Enrique's fourth goal of the year. Enrique worked past the Covenant defense after collecting a ball from Sierra Siegel and found the back of the net for the equalizer.
Neither team had many opportunities after that. Covenant held a slim 6-4 shot advantage and both teams managed just one shot each in the second half and overtimes combined.
The goal allowed by Covenant snapped an impressive streak. The Lady Scots came into the match with five straight shutouts and just over 502 game minutes without allowing a goal before Enrique's strike.
Rachel Lemay picked up three saves, while Marshall had four. Porch led Covenant with three shots, two of which were on target.
