JACKSON, Miss. -- Senior Scott McKnight shot a 77 and is in a tie for 13th place after the first round of the Pinnacle Trust Invitational, hosted by Belhaven University at the Castlewoods Country Club.

As a team, Covenant sits in ninth place. Meridian Community College leads the field after posting a first round score of 293.

McKnight's round has him near the top 10 on the leaderboard and the senior is eight shots back of clubhouse leader Austin Terrell of Meridian. Alan Craig and Jeron Pasma each shot an 87, while Nick Blauw carded an 88 in the opening round of play.

The second and final round of the tournament will tee off early Tuesday morning.
