LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN – The Covenant women's soccer team saw its two-game winning streak snapped as they fell to Berry 4-0 on Wednesday night at Scotland Yard.
Covenant (2-4) was shutout for the fourth time this season. Berry moves to 3-1 on the year.
In the first half, Berry's Maggie Midkiff scored two goals, while Tessa Piety added a goal and an assist for the Vikings, who took a 3-0 halftime lead.
Piety kicked off the scoring with a goal in the 14th minute from the left side of the goal, just inside the 18 yard box. She was assisted by Rachel LeRoy.
Midkiff made it 2-0 10 minutes later on a point blank shot past Lady Scots goalkeeper Lucy Johnson off a feed from Piety in the 25th minute. Midkiff would find the back of the net again in the 33rd minute, when she was assisted by Isabel Fornuto.
Sara Dillon made it 4-0 early in the second half when she took a pass from Caitlin Crawford and drove it home from just inside the 18 yard box.
Johnson made five saves on the night. Vikings keeper Jackie McGivney gets the shutout victory. Covenant was outshot 13-5, with a 9-0 margin in shots on goal. Anna Porch and Ruth Terry each had two shots to lead Covenant.
Covenant will have more than a week off before getting a chance to get back on track when they host Greensboro at 4:30 p.m. on September 19th.
