DEMOREST, Ga. -- Coming off an impressive win over conference foe Huntingdon on Wednesday, the Covenant women's basketball team could not keep the momentum going as they fell at Piedmont 81-53 on Thursday evening inside Cave Arena.

The loss snaps a two-game winning streak by the Scots and moves them to 7-17 overall and 3-12 in the USA South. Piedmont improves to 17-8 on the season and 11-5 in league play.

Jessie Blankenship posted her 12th double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Scots. The senior was 5-of-9 from the field and dished out two assists. Morgan Woodward and Alexis Storteboom had nine points apiece. Aleigha Williams added eight points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

Piedmont had three players score in double figures led by Taylor Swoszowski's 15 points, including a 12-for-12 effort from the free throw line. Le'Shaunda Jones added 14 points off the bench and Chandler Alverson chipped in 10 points.

Piedmont controlled the game from the tip as they built a comfortable lead early on in the contest. The host Lions went ahead 50-22 at halftime and cruised from there.

Covenant will return home on Saturday for the final game of the 2013-14 season. The Scots will face LaGrange at 2 p.m. Before the contest, Covenant will recognize its two seniors, Blankenship and Kiaira Cooper.
