Covenant Update: 4-8, 1-3 USA South
- Covenant dropped a 68-55 decision to Greensboro on Saturday. Jessie Blankenship led the Scots with 13 points, while Alexis Storteboom and Haley Soles each had 12.
- Blankenship registered a double-double in the loss with 13 points and 10 rebounds. It was her fourth double-double in a row and 26th of her career. In four USA South games, she is averaging 16.8 points and 12 rebounds. She passed Stephanie Law for 15th on the all-time Covenant scoring list with 1,178 points and is currently tied with Bekah Smith for the sixth most rebounds at 666.
- Covenant allowed just two made 3-pointers combined by weekend foes Methodist and Greensboro. Those two teams were a combined 2-of-19 from downtown. For the year, Covenant allows opponents to shoot just 26.8 percent from 3-point land.
- The Scots average 56.3 points per game, but over the last three contests are scoring 64.3 per game. Covenant connects on 34.5 percent from the field, but has eclipsed that mark in each of its last three games.
About Maryville (10-3, 3-1 USA South):
- Maryville cruised to a pair of USA South victories over the weekend against Greensboro (75-59) and Methodist (76-44). The Scots are 3-1 in conference play and 10-3 overall. They are tied for the most overall victories in the league with Piedmont.
- Sophomore guard Mackenzie Puckett was named USA South Player of the Week on Monday following a week in which she averaged 21 points, 8.5 rebounds, three steals, and two assists. For the year, Puckett leads the conference in scoring average (19.3) and total blocked shots (20).
- The Scots average 70.1 points per game, while allowing just 59.5, and shoot at a 42.3 percent clip as a team. Maryville is not shy about shooting the 3 as they attempt 21.8 treys per game making 6.8 (31.1 percent)
- Maryville leads the all-time series 10-2 over Covenant and has won the last six meetings. Covenant's last win came in 2002 at Maryville, 76-66.
