LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Alexis Storteboom had 12 points and nine rebounds, but the Covenant women's basketball team suffered from cold shooting throughout as they fell to Oglethorpe 62-35 on Saturday afternoon inside Barnes Physical Education Center.

The loss drops the Scots back to .500 at 3-3 on the season. With the win, Oglethorpe improves to 3-5 and splits the season series with Covenant.

Storteboom finished 6-of-13 from the field  for her dozen points, while grabbing five offensive rebounds and nine total. Jessie Blankenship added 10 points and five rebounds. As a team, Covenant was only 23.2 percent (16-of-69) from the floor and 0-of-15 from 3-point territory.

Ciaira Hughes led Oglethorpe with a double-double of 16 points and 15 rebounds. Emily Buck also registered 16 points and McKenzie Fortson had 15. Kyana Jenkins narrowly missed a double-double with eight points and 14 rebounds.

Covenant last played 11 days ago against this same Oglethorpe team in Atlanta coming away with a 65-52 win. Early on, it seemed as though this contest was headed in the same direction.

The Scots started the game on a 14-4 run as Morgan Woodward gave Covenant a double-digit advantage with a layup at the 12:53 mark of the first half. Covenant extended that lead to 16-4 a few minutes later on a Storteboom jumper. However, Oglethorpe would end the half on an 18-5 run to take a 26-21 lead at the break.

The scoring run continued in the second half for Oglethorpe as they outscored Covenant 20-4 in the first 10-and-a-half minutes of the period to go ahead 46-25. Cold shooting was the main culprit for the Scots as they connected on only 7-of-38 in the second half while Oglethorpe heated up slightly to shoot 48.1 percent (13-of-27).

Covenant will look to get back over .500 on Tuesday when they travel to face Sewanee. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
