EMORY, Va. -- Jessie Blankenship led four Covenant women's basketball players in double figures with 20 points, but host Emory & Henry cruised by the Lady Scots 97-70 on Saturday night in Virginia.

The loss is Covenant's second straight as they fall to 5-3 on the season. Emory & Henry improves to 5-3 for the year.

Blankenship scored her 20 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the field and 6-of-7 from the foul line. The junior also had five rebounds and two steals. Covenant was plagued again by turnovers. The Lady Scots committed 32 turnovers on the night that the host Wasps converted into 39 points. Covenant forced Emory & Henry into 21 giveaways and scored 18 points off of those.

Emory & Henry led for the majority of the contest, but Covenant held a brief lead in the first half. Trailing 17-9, the Lady Scots went on a 14-2 scoring run, capped by a pair of Gibson free-throws, to give Covenant a 23-19 edge with 9:53 left in the half.

The Wasps would recover and go on a spurt of their own to end the half. Emory & Henry went into the halftime break up 45-32.

In the second half, Covenant would fall further behind as the Wasps continued to build their advantage.

Emory & Henry's Michelle Williams led all players with 31 points, including nine 3-pointers, coming off the bench. Kristie Langley poured in 21 points, while Karina Farr registered a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Covenant will be free from competition until after Christmas Break. The women will join the men's team on a week-long missions trip to Costa Rica on December 14-21. The Lady Scots will take on Wesleyan College on January 5, 2013 inside Barnes Physical Education Center at 2 p.m.
