DANVILLE, Kent -- It was another grueling night of soccer for the Covenant Scots. For the third time this season Covenant went into double overtime but, unlike the first two matches, this time the game did not end in a draw.

Unfortunately for the Scots, it was the opponent that came away with the win. Centre College's Ryan Garvey scored the match's lone goal in the 108th minute to give the Colonels a 1-0 win on Saturday night.

The Scots had a chance of their own in the 105th minute of action, but Johnny Frame's shot was saved by Colonels keeper Chris Jackson to keep the match scoreless. David Huertas had an opportunity himself in the 93rd minute, however, Jackson came up with another save for Centre.

Covenant's scoring chances were kept at a minimum and with Jackson manning the net for the Colonels, scoring was a tough chore for the Scots. Tyler Morrison might have had the best chance of all after a corner kick from Garrison Dale. Morrison attempted a header, but the ball was knocked away on a team effort by Centre in the 73rd minute. Dale had a shot of his own in the 88th minute, but again Jackson was there for the save that sent the match into overtime.

Centre (5-2-1) had their way for most of the match. The Colonels doubled up the Scots on shots attempted (28-14) and had 16 shots on goal, opposed to just 6 for Covenant. Even with all the scoring opportunities for the Colonels, Covenant keeper John Eger kept the Scots in the match by saving 12 shots on the night, only two short of his career-high.

Covenant drops to 1-4-2 for the season. The Scots will return to action on Tuesday, September 27 when they host Tennessee Temple University at 7:00 p.m. on Scotland Yard.
