LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant College baseball and softball teams were busy out on their respective diamonds this past week, playing a combined 7 games in a three day span. The Scots and Lady Scots were successful during that stretch, as the men went 3-0 and the ladies were 3-1. These impressive results were due in large part to the play of juniors Harrison Fisher and Chelsea Krafft, who claim week 29 player of the week honors for their impressive performances.
Fisher played a huge role in the baseball team going 3-0 this past week by posting solid performances from the field and from home plate. In the outfield, Fisher had 12 putouts on 13 chances, but he was most impressive from the plate, where he had 6 hits, 3 RBIs, and 5 runs. He also took 9 total bases while going 6 for 6 in base steals, and posted a .500 batting average throughout a 3 game stretch that included Covenant's first-ever win over Berry College.
On the ladies side of things, pitcher Chelsea Krafft went 3-0 from the mound while pitching 3 complete games as the team claimed victories over Cumberland University and Centre College. Krafft posted a 3.38 ERA over the stretch, and struck out 19 batters in the process. She also had 2 putouts and 7 assists with no errors in the field.
