LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Scots welcomed an aggressive and pesky Asbury University team to Scotland Yard on Saturday and came out on top of the physical encounter with a 1-0 victory.  Senior Julian Allgeier scored his twelfth goal of the season – and the only goal of the game – midway through the first half, and the Scots defense fought hard to fend off an Asbury attack that managed 12 shots throughout the game.  Covenant, though, nearly doubled that tally with 21 shots of their own, and should have put the game beyond reach on several occasions.  In the end, more goals were not needed though, as John Eger and the defense recorded the team's ninth shutout of the season. 

The win over Asbury was Covenant's eleventh consecutive victory of the season, and the team is now a perfect 7-0 at home.  The 12-3 Scots now travel to Knoxville to challenge future Great South Athletic Conference opponent Maryville College on Wednesday, before returning home next Saturday to face another GSAC foe in Piedmont College.  

"We have some really important and challenging late-season games coming up, and we want to make sure we get as many wins as we can," said Head Coach Nathan Pifer.  "These last few games have strong implications for postseason seeding, so we want to continue this streak and make sure we stay at the top of our game."
