ST. CHARLES, MO -- The idea of fall break is welcomed by most students as a time to get a break from school right after mid terms, but the Lady Scots (7-4-1) found themselves on the road to the mid-west earlier this week to face a good team in Lindenwood University (5-9-1).  As with many games involving two teams that do not play each other regularly, the first few minutes were spent feeling out the strengths and weaknesses of the opposing side.  The normal struggle for possession in the midfield and the question marks surrounding the new opponent left both teams with little offensive output.

Lindenwood finally broke the ice and started earning shots fifteen minutes in, but none that tested Bethany Holman until Paige Hickey's header that clipped the crossbar in the 32nd minute.  The miss off the frame led to a long rebound controlled nicely by Lindenwood, but the resulting shot was missed wide, and the Lady Scots breathed a sigh of relief with two great scoring chances for Lindenwood not finding the back of the net.

In the 34th minute, Covenant found some offensive movement when Eliza Drew earned a shot that hit the crossbar.  Although the high shot failed to give the Lady Scots the early lead, it seemed to warn Lindenwood of Covenant's ability to strike quickly.

The second half was one that saw its highlights early.  Lindenwood scored in the 50th minute to take the lead, one they would not relinquish, and the Lady Scots were thus faced with the uphill battle of being down 1-0.  Although Covenant added pressure on Lindenwood to score, their attempts were to no avail, and the Lady Scots were sent home with their third straight loss of the season.

Covenant will look to break the losing streak when they travel to Piedmont College this Saturday, October 23.
