LaGrange, GA- Despite starting the game strong and keeping things close throughout a majority of the first half, the Covenant College women's basketball team found itself unable to close out the final seven minutes of the period. Turnovers, foul trouble, and an inability to find an offensive rhythm contributed to their lack of success, and they saw LaGrange go on a 21-3 run, turning a five point deficit into a thirteen point lead before the intermission arrived. Indeed, the Lady Scots had put themselves in a hole that they would be unable to get out of for the rest of the game, and their troubles were only compounded by the fact that they were without starting point guard Kiaira Cooper, who has now missed two straight games due to injury.
Erika Forland was once again the leading scorer for the Scots, as she posted 14 points and 9 rebounds. Jen Paffenroth was close behind with 12 points of her own. For LaGrange, Katie Covington's monster 22 point effort helped seal the deal for the Lady Panthers, who improved to 12-6 on the season, while at the same time putting Covenant at 6-11 for the year. The Lady Scots will now look to claim their first win in their past four tries as they travel to face Huntingdon College on Wednesday. Tip-off is at 6:00 P.M.
