Lookout Mountain, GA- The Covenant College Lady Scots basketball team returned to winning ways on Monday night, downing Spelman College 66-48 en-route to their 6th win of the season. After leading by only two points at halftime, the Lady Scots came out of the locker room determined to put the game beyond Spelman's reach, and they did just that, winning loose balls and dominating the boards for a majority of the second period to secure victory.
Junior DeDe Walls led in rebounds with 16, while senior Erika Forland was a close second with 14 of her own. Forland also led the Scots in points, with 20, and had a game high 5 blocks. Freshman Kiaira Cooper was second in scoring with a solid 15 points, and also contributed 6 steals to the Scots' winning effort. "We had a very strong second half," said Coach Smialek after the game, "We played with poise and control and capitalized on loose balls and rebounds. Every player played in each half, and we are beginning to get some quality minutes from the bench."
Now standing at 6-8 on the season, the Lady Scots will look to improve their record when they host Tennessee Temple tonight at 5:30 P.M.
