Lookout Mountain, GA- While a majority of the student body was away for Christmas break, the Covenant College men's basketball team was hard at work preparing for the second half of their season. After losing away to Maryville College in the first game of 2010, the Scots continued to work hard over the remainder of the break to ensure that their first home game of the new year would result in a Scot's victory. Entering with a 2-9 record, the game against LaGrange represented a chance for the Scots to obtain that kickstart to the new year and at the same time grab their first win since beating Sewanee over a month prior. And, with a solid effort spearheaded by Logan Dahms and Sam Bowman's 13 and 12 point outings respectively, the team was indeed able to outlast a scrappy LaGrange squad en-route to victory.
Tied 40-40 at the half, Covenant came out in the second period and prevented LaGrange from getting as many offensive rebounds. Bowman combined his 12 points with 17 rebounds, and Chris Robinson and Logan Dahms stepped up and made several key free throws late in the game to help the Scots improve their record to 3-9 on the year, and already surpass last season's win total. Nic Whitfield and Clay Wages led LaGrange with 17 points each.
In their next contest, Covenant will travel to Union College where they hope to continue the streak and post back to back wins for the first time this season.
