Demorest, GA- Last time the Covenant College Lady Scots basketball team faced off against the Piedmont College Lady Lions they came away with a 47-41 victory. This time however, they were not as fortunate, falling 56-49 as Piedmont squared the season series.
Substitute Margaret Cross was 5-5 from three point range and led the Lady Scots with 18 points, while senior Erika Forland posted 11 rebounds and 12 points of her own. Brinkley Knowles also contributed 14 points to the effort, but it was not enough to overcome a spotty 25% team field goal percentage over the course of the game. In the end, Covenant fell victim to a Piedmont team whose points were spread across ten different team members- as opposed to Covenant's five -and who posted a higher 32% field goal percentage.
After dropping to 5-7 on the year, Covenant will hope to defeat Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky on January 13th,.
