In game 1, Jason Pope led the offense going 3-3 and Taylor Oldham followed suit going 2-3. Unfortunately their potent bats today weren't enough to support Demarius Johnson who through 5.2 strong innings with six strikeouts and Nolan Gray came out of the pen for the final out of the sixth inning. The last efforts in the top of the seventh were to no avail for a final score 2-3.
The second game had a bumpy start allowing the Vikings to open up a 5-0 lead after only two innings. After settling down, Tyler Smith began to relax for the next two innings. James Roberts and Wes McDowell closed out the last two innings which were rather uneventful for the Vikings' bats. The Scots' offense remained on standby until the seventh inning when we strung several hits together for four runs. Taylor Oldham's hot bat from game one carried over into game two going 2-3; Thomas O'Ban went 2-3 as well; and all in the seventh inning, Harrison Fisher, Justin Carruth, and Brandon Hagopian singled their way on base as the Scots' threat built up. But a couple of quick outs put a halt on the Scots' bats for the 4-6 loss.
Although the scoreboard displays two losses tonight, it marks a big turning point because the Scots entered battle and never gave up-something the Scots will remember as they travel to King College (Bristol, TN) for this weekend's three-game series (3/13 @ 2:00 p.m. and 3/14 @12:00 p.m.).
