Lookout Mountain, GA - The Scots gave up nine runs on thirteen hits as they fell to Tennessee Temple University today by a score of 9-4. Despite getting the loss, Covenant starter Tyler Smith bounced back from giving up two first inning runs by following it up with two scoreless innings, striking out four and walking just one in three innings. After freshman Michael Risko came on in relief, throwing one scoreless inning, fellow freshman Nolan Gray entered the game, pitching three innings and giving up just one run while striking out two. After Gray exited, sophomore Wesley McDowell gave up three runs in the TTU eighth.
Sam Hogan, who was not in the starting lineup, provided most of the offense for the Scots, collecting a three-RBI single on a pinch-hit. Junior Thomas O'Ban gave Covenant their other run batted in, going 1-4 with that RBI and senior Blaine Newton, batting third in the order, went 1-2 with two runs scored.
Covenant is now 2-3 on the year and will take on Indiana Wesleyan College in their next matchup.
