Lookout Mountain, GA - The Scots put their first notch in the win column with a 2-0 victory over Bluefield Saturday afternoon. After a draw and a loss to begin the year, Covenant came out ready to play and get their first win. They did at the expense of the Rams, a fellow Appalachian Athletic Conference member.
Playing without any team captains due to injuries, the Scots played well in what was their first conference match of the year. Sophomore forward Julian Allgerier provided the only scoring of the game with both goals for the Scots. Goalkeeper John Eger had three saves in the game as he and the rest of the Covenant defense had a great game, picking up their first shutout thus far.
After the game, head coach John Miglarese praised his defense saying "The defensive intensity in this game was superb." The Scots are now 1-1-1 overall with a 1-0 record in the AAC
Covenant will next play Emory University Friday, September 12 at 7:00 PM in Atlanta.
