Lookout Mountain, GA - It was a tough loss for the Lady Scots on their home court tonight, playing against their chief rivals, the Bryan College Lady Lions. Covenant and Bryan played point for point for the majority of their match Tuesday night, taking the score beyond the normal 25-point limit in two of the three games. Freshman Jessie Jakes had a great game, throwing down thirteen kills to go along with eight digs. Fellow freshman Emily Stewart added nine kills and freshman setter Kristin Dahlstrand had 21 assists and eight digs. Bryan ultimately won in three games (26-28, 13-25, 27-29) but the Lady Scots gave them quite a fight.
After the match, head coach Heather Taylor said, "Despite the loss, I'm really proud of the girls. They played very tough in the first game, then struggled in the second, but found the fire again for the third. If we put that kind of energy and heart into the second half of the season, we could do great things in the conference."
In their next match, the Lady Scots will host another conference opponent in Union College, this Friday, October 3rd at 6:30 PM.
