Lookout Mountain, GA - After dropping the first two sets of their match, the Lady Scots pulled off an amazing comeback against visiting Cumberland University. After a hard fought battle in the first set, in which Covenant lost 25-23, Cumberland dominated the second, ending with a score of 25-15. In the third set, with the Lady Scots on the brink of defeat with the score even at 25, they were able to pull it out and extend the match, winning 27-25. From then on, the match belonged to Covenant, as they won the fourth set by a score of 25-18 and took the fifth and deciding set by a score of 15-11.
Sophomore Shea McBee led the Lady Scots with 15 kills, while freshman Erica Adams added 14. Fellow freshman Katrina Unglaub and junior Anna Simonton also contributed with 17 digs each. Playing well for Cumberland despite the loss was senior Katie Ball, who had 12 kills to go with 18 digs and junior Bridget Neal who had 7 kills and 16 digs.
The Lady Scots now hold an overall record of 4-4, with a 1-1 conference record. Next on the schedule for the girls is fellow Appalachian Athletic Conference member Montreat College this Friday, September 12 at 7:00 PM at home.
