Lookout Mountain, GA - The Lady Scots battled hard to defeat the visiting Reinhardt College Lady Eagles this evening 61-50. Led by senior guard Liz Martin and her 24 points, Covenant was able to continually maintain a slim lead throughout the contest before extending it at the free-throw in the game's final minutes.
Up 30-26 at halftime, the Lady Scots got off to a rough start in the second half, scoring just four points in the period's initial nine minutes. Reinhardt wasn't able to capitalize, however, and fell after being outscored 31-24 in the half.
Martin was 6-16 from the field Tuesday night, including 3-8 from the three point line. She also hit nine of her twelve free-throw attempts in nearly 38 minutes of action. Freshman guard Ashley Wilson had a solid night despite going 0-5 from three with ten points and six assists and fellow freshman guard Kayla Sanders had a big game, hitting five or her eleven three-point attempts, leading to seventeen points, and grabbing seven rebounds.
The Lady Scots even up their record at 2-2 and will travel to Huntsville, AL for their next contest to take on an Oakwood University squad that they defeated back on October 30th. The game is scheduled for Saturday, November 8th at 8:00 PM.
