Lookout Mountain, GA - Senior Kalie Estrada tied Covenant's all-time scoring record with a goal in the 76th minute of Saturday's win over the Union College Lady Bulldogs. In the final conference game of the season for the Lady Scots, the goal, coming off of a penalty kick, was a big one not only for Estrada, but for the Lady Scots as it gave them a two-goal cushion late in the game. Establishing a 2-0 lead by the end of the first half, the Lady Scots' lead was never threatened as they were up by at least two goals the entire second half.
Junior forward Anna Lueck opened the scoring for Covenant with a goal assisted by junior midfielder Becky Galage. Junior forward Jenny Carter then scored to give the Lady Scots a comfortable lead. After Estrada's goal made it 3-0, the teams traded goals for the remainder of the match, with sophomore forward Kasey Craft capping the scoring for Covenant, leading to the 4-2 finish.
After the win, coach Mark Duble said, "This was a great win. We're starting to get back in the rhythm. It's great to have Kalie (Estrada) back on the field...it's really put a good spark back in our offense and so we're starting to score goals."
Covenant is now 7-3-2 overall. They finish the AAC portion of their schedule with a solid 4-1-2 record and will now wait to see how things end up for the rest of the conference.
Next on the schedule for the Lady Scots is a match at home against Judson College on Covenant's Senior Day, which will honor the team's seven seniors. The match takes place on Tuesday, October 14th at 5:00 PM.
