Will Thornhill serves as the Director of Athletics Communications at Covenant College, where he oversees media relations for all 14 NCAA Division III varsity sports. Since joining in May 2023, he has led game day operations, supervised a student staff team, managed official statistics, and developed social media strategies that reflect the college’s mission. Thornhill also handles all writing duties for the athletic department, including game recaps, award announcements, and other press releases.
Prior to Covenant, he was the Assistant Director of Athletics Communications at Florida Tech, where he was the communications contact for Women's Soccer, Men's Basketball, and Baseball. There, he produced multimedia content, maintained live stats, and contributed to live broadcasts. He also served on the NCBWA regional baseball rankings committee.
In the summer of 2022 at the Carolinas Golf Association, he served as a Communications Intern, covering tournaments across North and South Carolina through press releases, social media, and multimedia content. He created graphics, wrote features and video scripts, and captured on-site photos and videos, contributing to the CGA’s comprehensive event coverage.
Having grown up in Denver, NC, Will graduated from North Carolina State University in May of 2022 with a B.S. in Sport Management and a B.A. in Communication Media. While enrolled in college, Will was a sports writer for the student newspaper, Technician, covering NC State Athletics and the Carolina Hurricanes.
