Nate Swanson was named the Director of Athletic Communications in January 2026. The 2026 academic year will be his first at Covenant.
Swanson comes to Covenant after spending a year and a half as a graduate assistant for athletic communications at LeTourneau University. Before his stint at LeTourneau, Swanson spent four years at Covenant as a student assistant, helping the home event and sports information teams.Â
During his time at LeTourneau, Swanson oversaw multiple aspects of the athletic communications department, including website management, gameday operations and social media. He also often lent his voice for public address or play-by-play commentary on broadcasts for multiple sports.Â
As a student assistant at Covenant, Swanson primarily was the public address and play-by-play voice of the Scots, serving in some combination of those roles during all four years. He also held occasional roles like official scorer, scoreboard operator, shot clock operator, and bookkeeper, while contributing several recaps to the website.
Beyond those roles, Swanson also has been a play-by-play voice for the NJCAA Division III Softball World Series and a gameday operations assistant at multiple other institutions and organizations around the southeast and south central United States.
Swanson graduated from Covenant with a bachelor's degree in business-accounting. He is currently pursuing a masters in business administration at LeTourneau.Â
