Eddie Jackson was named the seventh head coach in Covenant golf program history in June 2022. He enters his fourth season as head coach going into the 2025-26 school year.
During Jackson's first year as Head Coach in 2022-23, he led the Scots to a team-win at the Chattahooche Collegiate with a 36-hole score of 636 to win by 14 strokes.Â
Jackson built off that in year two, taking home two second-place results at the Pfeiffer Invitational and the Shenandoah Classic in back-to-back weeks. Covenant also secured two first-place finishes on the individual side as Kenny Duffin won the Bruins Golf Classic while Drew Silman won the Pfeiffer Invitational.Â
In the 2024-25 season, Jackson led the Scots to a seventh-place finish out of 24 teams at the prestigious Chick-Fil-A Invitational, going up against several nationally ranked teams. In the spring, he directed the Scots to a second-place finish at the Spring Golden Tiger Collegiate. Most notably, Covenant placed third at the CCS Championship, it's best-ever result at a Conference Championship. Additionally, Drew Silman finished first place, highlighted by a school-record score of 67 in the opening round.Â
"This is a dream job opportunity to me, to mentor these young men in their walk with Jesus, challenging them to be the best they can be in the classroom and developing the skills that they have on the golf course," said Jackson.
No stranger to the Covenant program, Jackson assisted with the Scots during parts of the last two seasons.Â
A golf lifer, Jackson returns to the college head coaching ranks for the second time in his career. He spent three years at Georgia Northwestern Tech as head coach from 2016-19 and guided the Bobcats to a pair of top-five finishes at USCAA National Tournaments.
Jackson has worked extensively at golf courses in a manager capacity for over 35 years with four different courses.
In his competitive playing days, Jackson began his college career at Alexander City Junior College (now Central Alabama CC) in 1978 and was a first team All-American and a two-time conference individual champion. He then earned All-Ohio Valley honors at Middle Tennessee State in 1982. Jackson won 10 individual tournament titles in his collegiate career.
He was elected into the Alabama Junior College Sports Hall of Fame in the 1990s. Jackson played in a few PGA Tour events in the 1980s.
He takes over a Scots program that placed eighth at the USA South Tournament this season. The Scots are set to return six players from that roster, with five newcomers joining the fray in fall 2022.
"My goal for the Covenant College team is to do all things through Christ who gives us strength," added Jackson. "We will strive as a golf team to live out Colossians 3:23-24."
Jackson graduated with his bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 1982.Â
