ATLANTA, Ga. -- Covenant athletics placed fifth in the CCS Commissioner's Cup standings, earning fifth on the women's side and third on the men's side, announced the conference on Monday.

The Commissioner's Cup is presented annually to CCS member institutions that demonstrate consistent athletic performance and overall excellence throughout the academic year. The awards recognize the top men's and women's programs, while the overall Commissioner's Cup is determined by combining results from both men's and women's sports.

Points are awarded based on regular-season standings in team sports and championship team finishes in individual or meet-based sports. Each institution has a total number of possible points based on its sport sponsorship. The total number of points earned is then divided by the total number of possible points to determine each institution's final rating.

The Scots ended up with a .503 rating, while Maryville won the overall standings with a .641 and the men's side with a .646. Asbury took down the women's title with a .750.

On the men's side, Covenant posted another strong campaign. The cross country team took down their second consecutive CCS title, while the men's soccer and men's tennis programs made the CCS Championship finals. Track and field and golf were able to land third at the CCS Championships in the spring as well.

For the women, the cross country team placed second, while the soccer, tennis, and volleyball programs earned berths to the CCS Championship semifinals. Track and field dominated the distance events to place third in the CCS Championships, while softball landed a spot in the CCS Tournament in Bill Higley's second season.

In all, 56 Scots athletes were honored with All-CCS distinctions, including 25 First Team, 27 Second Team, and four Third Team. Five athletes earned superlative awards as well: Ethan Saiki, Caleb Domkowski, Pierce Smith, Fox Landgren, and Maisie Tanchanpongs, while Scott Bosgraf notched a CCS Coach of the Year honor.
