LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant men's tennis team rolled to another victory as the Scots blanked Huntingdon, 9-0, on Thursday afternoon at the Covenant Tennis Complex.
Covenant (9-4, 3-0 USA South) has won four straight and has dropped one team point during the stretch. The Scots have won eight of their last nine matches overall.
In picking up an eighth straight win over Huntingdon (3-7, 2-2 USA South) in the all-time series, Covenant took a commanding lead in doubles and coasted to the victory.
Gill Dunn and
Ethan Gibson played at the top flight in doubles and eased past Huntingdon's Carson Sands and Lane Young by an 8-1 final.
Ben Luke and
Camden Lashley had the tightest match of the day at No. 2 doubles, but the pair held off the Hawks' Clint Robinson and Cameron Reed 8-6.
Tyler Kelly and
Chris Morton finished off the doubles sweep with a sweep of their own at No. 3 over Prosser Crow and Caise McGraw.
In singles play, Covenant dropped only eight points across the six flights as three Scots picked up straight-set victories.
Solomon Crouch, Dunn, and
Cameron Cortman had those three straight-set wins at Nos. 4, 5, and 6, respectively.Â
Dunn's victory was his eighth consecutive in singles play as he tied for the team-lead in wins with eight.
Austin Dreslinski took down Sands at the top position 6-0, 6-1, while Luke was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over Robinson at No. 2. Gibson notched a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Young at the third position.
