BEREA, Ky. -- The Covenant men's tennis team capped a perfect season in USA South play with a 9-0 victory at Berea on Tuesday evening.
Covenant (12-5, 6-0 USA South) earned its second straight undefeated conference season with the victory. The Scots have won 12 straight USA South regular season matches, dating back to the 2019 season.
The Scots dropped just a handful of points throughout the sweep of Berea (1-8, 0-6 USA South).
In doubles,
Austin Dreslinski and
Ben Luke picked up an 8-1 win over Lavar Pharris and Bogdan Petric at the top spot, while
Tyler Kelly and
Chris Morton swept Brandon Ray and Mike Mecham at No. 2.
Andrew Graham and
David Netherton teamed up for an 8-2 victory over John Whitaker and Nick Holt at No. 3.
In singles play, Luke toppled Pharris 6-1, 6-3 at the top flight. At No. 5, Morton defeated Mecham 6-0, 6-1.
The other four flights in singles action were straight-set sweeps by the Scots.
Ethan Gibson took a win at No. 2 and
Gill Dunn was a winner at No. 3.
Cameron Cortman and Kelly took victories at Nos. 4 and 6, respectively.
UP NEXT
Covenant will be the No. 1 West seed in next week's USA South Tournament in Rome, Ga. The Scots will take on the No. 4 East seed on April 28. Opponent and time will be announced later.
