ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- The Covenant men's golf team recorded its highest-ever finish at the USA South Tournament as the Scots placed seventh in the tournament that concluded with 27 holes on Friday.
Covenant posted a 331 in the completed second round and then shot a 321 in the final round. It marks the best finish for the Scots in four appearances in the tournament since joining the league in 2013-14.
Will DeMersseman placed 15th overall with a 54-hole score of 235 (74-83-78). After an 83 in the second round, DeMersseman carded a 78 in the final round as he registered two birdies in the round. It was the best individual finish for a Covenant golfer since Nathan Hawkins placed 13th in 2017.
Crawford Collett had a pair of 79s over the final two rounds to finish in 25th at 241 (83-79-79). Collett finished his second round on Friday with a 39 on the back-nine and continued that into the third round as he recorded two birdies in the final round.
Kenny Duffin had the best second round for Covenant as he posted a 78 before finishing with an 87 and a 255 (90-78-87) for the tournament. Isaac Duncan finished the tournament strong as he shot a team-best 77 in the final round and also finished with a 255 (87-91-77). Joel Dahms rounded out the Covenant golfers with a 276 (86-91-99).
Piedmont took home the team title with a 920 (314-300-306). Methodist's Cooper Hrabak and Piedmont's Ben Balen tie for first and it was Hrabak coming away with medalist honors after winning the playoff.
Covenant carded a 982 (330-331-321) for the tournament. The Scots finished higher than Maryville (1003) and No. 8-ranked Pfeiffer (1021).
