CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- The Covenant men's tennis team was topped 6-1 this afternoon against Chattanooga at the UTC Tennis Center.
The Mocs flew through the doubles portion, not allowing more than four games in any of the sets. No. 3 doubles finished first, as Luke Plaisted and Bo Nash defeated Austin Dreslinski and Chris Morton 6-1.
The No. 1 slot followed, as Ben Luke and Paxton Haggerty fell 6-1 to Tomas Rodriguez and Peyton Gatti. And Turner Voges and Simon Labbe topped Ethan Gibson and Gill Dunn 6-4 at the No. 2 spot.
UTC continued its domination in the singles portion, winning the next five matches and, once again, not allowing four games within a single contest.
At No. 1, Voges topped Luke 6-0, 6-1, while Dreslinski fell to Labbe 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot. Jeffrey Dewald defeated Gibson 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, and Cameron Cortman fell short against Jacob Marshall 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4.
While Haggerty was beaten 6-0, 6-0 by Plaisted at the No. 5 spot, Dunn forced a tie-break and recorded the Scots' only win in his No. 6 slot victory over Nash 1-6, 6-4, 10-8.
Singles order of finish was 5, 2, 4, 1, 3, 6.
Covenant falls to 11-5 overall.
