MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Crawford Collett shot a career-low-tying 73 to lead the Covenant golf team in round one of the Wynlakes Intercollegiate at the par-72 Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery.
Covenant sits in 14th (12th for rankings purposes) after shooting a 319 in the 15-team field that features 10 teams ranked in the latest Golfstat Top 25.
Collett was strong on the back-nine as he carded a 3-under 33 over his final nine holes of the day. The junior had three birdies, including birdies on consecutive holes, in his round and he is in a tie for 19th overall heading into Tuesday.
Will DeMersseman finished round one with a 77 as he was even-par on the front nine and then birdied his 18th hole. Kenny Duffin had an 82, while Isaac Duncan rounded out the scorers for the Scots with an 87.
USA South foe Piedmont leads the field after the Lions shot a 281 on Monday. Guilford's James Mishoe is the individual clubhouse leader after his 5-under 67.
