LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- A five-match win streak for the Covenant women's tennis team was snapped on Friday as visiting Piedmont took an 8-1 victory over the Scots in USA South action at the Covenant Tennis Complex.
Covenant drops to 8-3 on the year and 3-1 in USA South play. Piedmont (10-4, 4-0 USA South) remains perfect in league play.
The five-match winning streak was the longest for the Scots since winning six straight during the 2017 season.
The Scots battled in doubles play and took a point from Piedmont. The top doubles team of Madelyn Savage and Gillian Bosko outlasted Piedmont's duo of Megan Waldheim and Maggie Moody, 8-6, to prevent a Piedmont sweep in doubles.
In singles play, Piedmont pulled away for the win.
Bosko put up a valiant effort at the No. 2 spot before falling 7-5, 6-3 to Waldheim. Dani Rappuhn and Laney Beck also had strong second-set performances but fell by identical 6-1, 6-3 scores at Nos. 4 and 5 to Maggie Moody and Kara Landsiedel, respectively.
