LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant men's tennis team won its third straight match with a 9-0 victory over Belhaven in non-conference action at the Covenant Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon.
Covenant (5-3) has won three straight overall, including wins on back-to-back days at home. Belhaven (0-1) was opening its season on Saturday.
The Scots set the tone on the day with three wins in doubles play. Austin Dreslinski and Solomon Crouch continued their dazzling play at the top spot with an 8-1 win over Belhaven's Chris Stevens and Tom Borgioli. Paxton Haggerty and Ben Luke were 8-5 winners at No. 2, while Ethan Gibson and Chris Morton took an 8-3 win at No. 3.
Luke dropped just one point in a 6-1, 6-0 win at the top flight in singles to Borgioli. Dreslinski then clinched the match with his 6-1, 6-4 win over Stevens at the No. 2 position.
Gibson notched his second win of the day with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Kelsey Smiyle at No. 3, while Crouch notched a 6-1, 6-2 win over Bryce Livingston at No. 4. The Scots capped the win with victories from Cameron Cortman and Morton at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
UP NEXT
Covenant altered its schedule for next week. The Scots will now travel to play Mercer in an exhibition on Tuesday (3:30 p.m.) before hosting Berea on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
