ROME, Ga. -- The Covenant men's tennis team picked up three singles wins, but it wasn't enough in a 6-3 loss to Berry on Tuesday at the Rome Tennis Center.
Covenant drops to 2-3 on the year, while it was the season-opener for Berry (1-0).
The Scots collected wins at each of the top two singles flights, but could not overcome a 3-0 match deficit after doubles play. Ben Luke defeated Rory Glatt at No. 1 via retirement from Glatt after the players split the first two sets. At No. 2, Austin Dreslinski notched a 6-3, 6-4 win over Diego Lopez.
The win moved Dreslinski to 4-1 on the year in singles play, all at the No. 2 flight.
Solomon Couch earned a 6-1, 6-3 win at the No. 4 spot over Carsten Balao for Covenant's third point.
Ethan Gibson and Paxton Haggerty each lost three-set matches in the tightly-contested match. Luke and Haggerty also fell at No. 2 doubles in a narrow, 8-6, defeat to Lopez and Drayton Matus.
